A vertical is simple enough, however, I made a 3 element out of a defunct 5 element channel 6 antenna. The elements still fold. To extend the length if the elements I cut slits in the original rolled antenna element and used 1/4" aluminum rod with a tiny hose clamp. The match was made with a strip of aluminum for a clamp and a piece of aluminum tubing. The coax was stripped back and the center conductor inserted into the aluminum tubing. The insulation for the center conductor became the dielectric for a series capacitor. The whole antenna tilts on the mast clamp and is mounted to a roof top tripod that has had the rivets loosened to collapse. The works can be folded up and put into my hatchback for portable use..
