Lack of postings here....
I have been noticing a lack of postings on radios, tv's, etc... in the forums here.I urge everybody to start posting here. This is not competitor for other forums such as ARF, but, meant as a good supplement.
I have heard some great ideas from one of our members on some postings he intends to make in the hopefully near future. We may even add a new forum to the list.I'm thinking that one over right now.
We have more serverr space now, so, no worries there, at present.
Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Re: Lack of postings here....
Hi...I stopped posting soon after I joined, after reading all the hate-filled diatribes in the 'clubhouse', here and at the other "ARF" forum. I joined that one, started reading, and immediately decided that I couldn't really stomach a conversation about anything, much less radios, with people knowing they were so filled with hatred and closed-mindedness. Even in the "radio" posts, these people find a way to work their ingrained hatred in somehow. I check in once in awhile, but that's about as far as I can go.
You guys were nice to me when I talked about my Zeniths, and I appreciate that, but reading some of those posts in the 'clubhouse' section turned my stomach. I can't really "separate" things like that. It let me know that some of those "nice" people wouldn't give me the time of day in "real life" if they met me, I'd probably try to stay as far away from them as possible, out of fear for my life. I can't possibly have a "friendly" conversation about radios with someone, knowing that person was filled with that kind of inate, unreasoning, closed-minded hatred.
At the ARF place, it seems like any time a newbie asks a question, some crusty old coot or other generally comes down on 'em for not knowing the answer already or not knowing where to look for the answers. That's really counterproductive if you people really want folks to get involved with old radios!
It's a real shame, as I really did want to get into the "old radio" thing as a hobby, but knowing that most of the people "in the hobby" were that unpleasant, intolerant and filled with unreasonable hatred pretty much made me cool off as far as that goes. Can't really feel comfortable having a conversation about tube radios with someone who would otherwise wish me ill due to the fact that I don't believe the way they do.

Re: Lack of postings here....
Most people here, and, at ARF aren't like that. You need to give us a chance. We always try to help, and, encourage new people. Look at my threads in television and, clubhouse sections at ARF. I posted on a dog I received yesterday, and, received much encouragement.
Manny of those people have joined here, plust some new people here are very friendly.

Re: Lack of postings here....
I think the majority of posts were of political and when that was starting to get under control the armchair politicians lost interest
Hopefully the real issue of radios will surface again and become dominant.

Re: Lack of postings here....
I certainly hope so.... We have a very nice little forum here, with a good tutorial section, as well, for newcomers, or, anyone wishing to bone up on the hobby.
I have looked at it occasionally, and, gleamed some good information from it, myself.

Re: Lack of postings here....
"people were so filled with hatred and closed-mindedness." Hi beebs, can you give an example of this? I've been checking this site for a year now and have seen precious little of what you speak. I've seen passionate debate and well thought-out opinion, but am hard pressed to find any disrespectful comments. I've yet to find any "hatred" in posts here. I'd be very interested to have you point me to any hatefulness here. Thanks

Crusty old coot? Does that include me? i"m 58. We have a few nasties at ARF, but, not the majority.
And, here, the nasties don't even post. They started a political war here two years ago, and, we stopped it. Been none since.
I don't agree that most collectors are nasty.
I've met a number of very friendly people here, at ARF, and, other sites, as well....
