Have a Motorola 56x14ba that has some audio from the speaker, but no stations are received. All the electrolytic and paper caps have been replaced and 5 of the six tubes have been swapped with known good ones. The IF, oscillator, and antenna test ok. It has the old dog bone style resistors and some are out of tolerance (over 20%). Some restorers automatically replace all of these because they drift, others only replace the out of tolerance resistors. These need to be replaced before voltage ...

Philco PT-25 has low volume. Turing the volume control does vary the level. All the tubular caps have been replaced and resistor values are in range. The tubes have been swapped out with no change in volume. The set pulls in many stations, but the volume is low. Some times after it warms up the volume returns to normal. There are some mica caps that have not been changed.

I recently picked up at a yard sale a Zenith Model T350, Chassis 7M07 tube radio. My first foray into the tube radio world. My goal is to someday own a '50s or '60s era, RCA Victrola monorual record player. Can't remember the exact year of my mothers player, but I'll notice it when I see it. Baby steps first though...

Back to the radio, on the bottom of the radio is a piece of paper that says... Patented in Canada by Zenith Radio Corporation in one of the following years 1946, 1949, 1950, ...

The case polised up sweeeeet. Knobs look new. I'll have to put the cap can back on it, I didn't stuff it. Early model used a 35z5. Now if only i had a 50L6gt. The one that came with it is bad and i don't have any. Oh btw i put my finger through the speaker...LOL

Even though I've been collecting radios forever, I still do not have a single cathedral radio. I've always liked the styling on these Philco Deco sets, like this 89A. But they seem to be commanding high prices these days. This one has been rebuilt, all the caps replaced with orange drops, and all the tubes checked. So electronically the set is in great condition. But it has a pretty serious cosmetic flaw, and that is that one side of the set has what looks like water damage and the veneer is ...

I think it was made for the North American market because it is a 120V radio, not the 220V type like some of my others. My question I guess is, because who ever owned it before did some wiring modifications and added a switch and some external speaker wires, does anyone know where I can find a schematic.
I was cleaning out the garage last week. It was an unusually warm day (around 60) in the NE. To make a long story short, my youngest daughter (20) backed out of the garage and ran over my Philco 20 that was behind her car. She didn't just hit it....she ran it over with her rear tire. All that was left was a pile of toothpicks, broken glass and a blob of metal, formerly known as the chassis.

Does anyone else have a horror story about a radio mishap? Misery loves company, so feel free.

This past week we got another couple of Zeniths, one a B835E in fairly good cosmetic shape, and another Y825 in *excellent* shape. I was hoping to be "blown away" by the sound of the B835E, but it seems to me that the Y825 kicks it in the behind pretty thoroughly, as far as sound quality...it even has a deeper bass than the wooden cased B835E, which I found odd. I figured that with the wood cabinet plus having separate woofer/tweeter setup, the B835E would yield much better sound, ...

Hey all, been scratching my head about this for a few days, and today just put the icing on the cake. When I first got this radio, I played it for several hours (it was reworked by the seller) and noticed that the stations would "drift" on the FM side of things after the radio had warmed up for about an hour...my favorite classical station at 89.5 would suddenly static out and I'd move the dial up to above 90 to about 92, and it would "reappear" again. I have checked out the websight for the SSTran AMT-3000 which seems great but I think is a little pricy for what it does. Does anyone have one of these and do they work well?

Any other alternatives. How about the talking house transmitters realtors use? I would like to get something that works without spending a bunch ...

Can anyone give me some info on how Beam-a-scope worked. I picked up a GE L-633 at a local antique show. The back was missing so the loop antennae is gone but there are two copper stripes connected to a metal grid in the top of the radio. Found a picture on net showing back with a tag about using Beam-a-scope instead of antennae. Haven't run across this before. Radio needs work before I fire it up so I can't try it for reception. So is Beam-A-scope exclusive to G.E. radios?

So I was in town yesterday ( Alameda, CA) and at random walked into the Alameda Museum gift shop. Sitting in the floor was this massive table top radio. Its rather generic looking, but extremely well-built. Its a Kemper radio with no markings except for the Kemper stamped dial surround and the dial itself. They wanted $40 for it which sounded reasonable.I'm guessing early 30's?

Its incredibly heavy and once I got it home and opened the back, saw that there are numerous large transformers ...
