Tried various methods such as rubbing compound, then Mequires products(glaze, scratch remover, wax) Even wet sanded with 2000 grit first but still can't get shine back. Actually has a milky look to it on the top so I would say over the years it has been sitting in the sun. Also tried the Brasso on it as I read somewhere to try that.
Having read the previous post on painting bakelite, I have an additional question. Since the paint on my Delco is chipped in places, what is a good way to fill them in? Just paint multiple coats, or is there an inexpensive product out there?

Can it be done? I just repainted a beat painted bakelite cab and thought about putting it in the oven at ~150-200 deg. to bake the paint (Krylon) nice and hard and to get it dried hard so I can handle it and make it stick better.

I've done this with metal parts, any reason I couldn't do it with bakelite?

Thanks,

I have a bunch of 1923-25 battery sets with fair to pretty good finish. How should I go about making

them look nicer while retaining the original finish. Clean then? Howards finish restorer? Some other

type of blending agent? I am not looking for showroom new, just a more even look that makes the scuffs

less noticeable.
