I have a Heathkit A0-1 Audio Oscillator that my father built in the '50s, I replaced the caps and cleaned up the switch contacts and it seems to work ok except the sine wave shows some distortion on a scope. I am a beginner and have no idea about how to troubleshoot this circuit to find the trouble. I've searched the internet and can only find info on how to use the audio oscillator as a troubleshooting tool, nothing on how to trouble shoot a tube audio oscillator. Thanks in advance for any ...

Hi folks-
I am purchasing a Jackson 642 multimeter from the 40's, and I wish to know more about it. I have only recently discovered that Jackson was, to the best of my knowledge, a somewhat large manufacturer of test gear in the 40's and 50's. Any manuals or schematics for this unit would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,......Tom

I just got a Precision signal generator and an RCA oscilloscope that I know work because I saw them in operation before I bought them. The stipulation was that the seller needed to keep the test leads.

I have a coax cable with the single contact screw-on microphone connector and the other end of the 6-foot lead is cut. I need to know if there is a way I can add something to the cut end to get it to work. I'm new at anything bigger than a VTVM but I've heard about 50-ohm termination ends ...

Turned on the old Tek 547 to do some work yesterday morning, the traces came up, and the trace looked kinda strange. Finally realized there was no retrace blanking on the "A" time base. Found a bad 2N2207 in the blanking circuit. After an hour of searching on the net, I found one, NINE BUCKS for a 40 year old TO-5 PNP ho-hum transistor (gotta keep it original Ya Know). Worse yet, I had to buy 6 of em to get to the fifty buck minimum.

Good part is, I'll never have another one ...

Hi. I just came accross a nice little device I made a number of years ago that's easy to make, and, works well. It's a capacitor checker. It will not properly test electrolytics, but, is good for paper, and, mylar capacitors, as well as mica caps with some tweaking. I thought I'd start out by showing some pictures of it.

In Picture number one, this is the entire outside of the device.

In picture 2 notice the top is removed, and, you see the little circuit board the parts are mounted ...
