I used too until my wife, in a fit of rage, put a golf club through the front of my Quadradial. I could have fixed it I guess but I think it would have forever been a reminder of that particular bit uf unpleasantness, so I tossed it (or should I say I dragged it to the trash). Of course, I was not a radio collector then.

Had a high wattage SS one years ago.
Only a little weak sound in one channel. Other was dead.
After 3 min. SMOKE!
I threw it out.

I'm old and not a Marantz collector.
However back in 1973
I went to downtown Portland Or. and on the north side of the Willamette river was a Big stereo shop, there were 3 salesmen and no customers, so I sauntered around a bit and started to leave and the manager said I can give you a bargain if your willing to buy. So I looked around and they showed me some closeout specials.

I wasn't interested as the price was out of my range. So thats what I told them. They said pick one that you really would like and we will see if we can make a sale. I saw a Marantz 2030 and a price tag of close to $260 so I offered them $150. Sold!!!!

I finally gave it to a close Friend of mine with the promise to give it back. He still has it and its still working, but now everything is in storage. But once he's moved, I gets it back. hip hip hooray!!!! cheers cheers cheers cheers cheers

I had a Marantz reciever years ago. I had problems keeping the pots clean so eventually ended up getting something else. When it was working trouble free, it performed well and i liked the looks of it. Maybe one day i'll end up with another one since there are more options as far as cleaners for stubborn dirty pots.

That's really unusual for Marantz. I know they had those awful slide controls and they sure did suck for keeping clean. My Marantz model 7t and 115 B are absolutely wonderful. Not the best, but really a nice compliment to the music!

The whole presentation is really nice, especially when you turn on the power switch! Cool What is it about those 1960s electronics? Rolling Eyes
